FACILITIES


AKUATROP support various aquaculture research areas through its laboratories that comprised of Aquatic Organism Health Laboratory, Fish Nutrition Laboratory, Aquaculture Biotechnology Laboratory as well as Soil and Water Quality Laboratory. All laboratories are fully equipped with latest equipments to facilitate research activities.

There are also marine and freshwater hatcheries. The Marine Hatchery consist of 3 open unit, Seaweed and Abalone unit, Marine Ornamental unit, Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) unit, Crustacean unit, and Temperature controlled room. Meanwhile, the freshwater hatchery caters for research on Malaysian Masheer, which includes hatching and rearing unit with chiller.

In order to fulfill the need of research in AKUATROP, a cabin laboratory attached with mini project hatchery unit was build with a numbers of facilities. This cabin laboratory was build with five other laboratory units which are Life Feed Culture Lab, Nutrition Lab, Advanced Microscope Lab, Fish Disease Lab, and Soil and Water Quality Lab. AKUATROP also hold a Biotechnology Lab shared with IMB as a smart partnership where AKUATROP used the space given by IMB to placed AKUATROP's biotechnology equipments.

AKUATROP has provided each laboratory with the instruments, machines and space to conduct related research or experiments for post graduate students, undergraduate students, researchers and lecturers. The facilities included in AKUATROP laboratories are;

       a: Recirculating Aquaculture System (Marine Hatchery)
       b: Marine Ornamental Fish Culture Unit
       c: Crustacean Culture Unit
       d: Freshwater and Marine food fish Culture Unit
