The excitement surrounding the Malaysian University Sports Carnival (SUKUM) 2024 is building up. For athletes from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), this year’s SUKUM, which will be held in Sabah, brings different challenges.

UMT contingent head Abu Hasan Ghazali said the teamwork spirit demonstrated by the athletes makes winning the targeted medals possible.

“UMT is targeting ten gold medals, three silver medals, and eight bronze medals at this year’s SUKUM.

“UMT athletes have been showing strong commitment and teamwork spirit during training as preparation for the sports carnival. We are confident that our target to earn medals in several potential events will come true,” said Abu Hasan during the handing over of UMT’s contingent flag at UMT Sports Complex.

UMT will bring 60 athletes to Sabah in its mission to become champions at SUKUM 2024 that is scheduled to run for 10 days beginning 8 August.

Meanwhile, UMT Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohd Izani Mohd Zain has placed a high expectation on UMT’s contingent for this sports carnival.

“I hope UMT athletes will perform their best and secure meaningful victories as planned.

UMT is participating in nine events, namely badminton, tennis, track and fields, net ball, chess, futsal, volley ball, beach volley ball, and footgolf.
