In this month’s issue, we celebrate a series of milestones that reflect Universiti Malaysia Terengganu’s growing impact as a centre of knowledge, discovery, and community. Among our proudest achievements is the discovery of a new deep-sea species, Ragadius azizahae, by one of our dedicated researchers. This breakthrough underscores UMT’s strength in advancing marine and aquatic sciences.
Equally significant is our recognition of scholarly excellence at a specially held ceremony, which honours the commitment and contributions of our academic community. On the leadership front, we spotlight UMT’s most prominent faculty — often referred to as the “non-niche” faculty — and its vital role in broadening the university’s intellectual and academic landscape.
We also take great pride in strengthening ties with our alumni. The recent Alumni Dinner provided a meaningful space for graduates to reconnect with their alma mater, share their journeys, and explore ways to give back. As ambassadors of UMT, our alums remain an invaluable bridge between the university and the wider society.
Adding to our list of achievements, we celebrate our librarian’s election as Chairperson of the ASFA Steering Committee. This recognition reflects UMT’s growing influence in the global academic and professional community.
Together, these successes remind us that building a great university is not the contribution of one individual but a collective effort. Let us continue to pursue new frontiers of knowledge, nurture our students as future leaders of the nation, and strengthen our role as a university that serves both the country and the world.
