KUALA NERUS, 17 December 2025 – Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), through the Faculty of Ocean Engineering Technology (FTKK), organized the FTKK Industry Day 2025 for two days held from 17 November 2025 at Sultan Mizan Hall (DSM), UMT, to strengthen strategic linkages between the university and the industry.
Themed “NexTECH FTKK 2025: Leading Technological Innovation with Industry,” the programme brought together industry partners, alumni, students, and academics, serving as a platform for knowledge sharing and technology transfer in the fields of ocean engineering, maritime studies, renewable energy, and other related technologies.
UMT Assistant Vice Chancellor (Performance, Strategy, and Corporate) Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Fadhil Mohd Akhir said that NexTECH 2025 demonstrated the university’s continuous commitment to producing highly skilled graduates in line with current industry needs.
“Direct involvement from the industry through programmes such as this can enhance graduate employability, in addition to strengthening strategic collaboration in training, innovation, and technology transfer,” he said during programme’s opening ceremony.
The programme comprised nine main segments, including Industry Tech-Talk, innovation exhibition and competition, Industry-University Forum, One-on-One consultation session, the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), as well as visits to UMT’s lab facilities and research vessel.
The event featured 40 exhibition booths were set up, hosted by UMT and industry players, six technology talks and demonstrations by speakers from the industry, especially from leading oil and gas companies.
At the same event, UMT signed an MoU with the Advanced Technology Training Centre (ADTEC), the Department of Manpower (JTM), Ministry of Human Resource (KESUMA), to strengthen the huma capital development and graduate employability. Also taking placed was the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between FTKK and Dwi-Tecno Sdn. Bhd. And Ranaco Marine Sdn. Bhd.
The organization of NexTECH 2025 is expected to further strengthen UMT’s position as a university focused on marine and engineering technology while supporting the nation’s innovation and professional talent development agendas.
