A healthy lifestyle is an important element for health, especially for employees who spend long hours at work. Practicing a healthy lifestyle not only has a positive impact towards physical health but also provides benefits to mental and emotional stability, thus contributing to productivity improvement.

 

Practicing a healthy lifestyle can also help reduce the risks of chronic diseases such as heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and cancer and can improve the overall quality of life.

 

Fully aware of this fact, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) through the Office of the Registrar organized a fitness programme for the university staff today with the objective of promoting a balanced life that divides equal time between work and taking care of health.

 

According to Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamri Ibrahim, currently performing the function of UMT Vice Chancellor, people need to practice a healthy lifestyle on a daily basis consistently in order to maintain their fitness and health.

 

“Besides contributing to health, this sort of activity can also bring the staff closer together where UMT management can share the university’s aspirations and planning with everyone.

 

He added that healthy and fit staff will be more productive and able to give the best service to the university and promote fit and healthy minds and physical through various activities that will ultimately contribute towards healtheir lifestyle.

 

Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamri urged all staff to fully utilize the sports and recreational facilities available at the university, such as the sports complex, swimming pool, and gym, for recreational activities and for everyone’s well-being.

 

“Continue practicing a healthy lifestyle and exercise on a routine basis based on your ability and avoid consuming substances that can negatively affect our health.

 

“Most importantly go for a health checkup periodically, especially those 40 years and above.

 

 

 

UMT has made various efforts to improve the health of its staff, such as organizing sports events frequently and encouraging the staff to participate and implementing various health-related programmes including health screening, diet clinic, body weight therapy, and smoking cessation clinic.

 

Prioritize health for lifelong well-being!
