BACHELOR IN SCIENCE (MARINE GEOSCIENCES) WITH HONOURS

  • PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This programme aims to provide fundamental knowledge of Earth processes, such as geology, geochemistry, palaeontology and physical processes in the ocean, including current marine geoscience technologies that serve as tools to investigate and address various issues, such as natural resource utilisation and environmental protection.

  • CORE COURSES

Fundamentals of Earth Science, Fundamentals of Geographic Information Systems, Exploration Geophysics, Marine Geochemistry, Geochronology and Stratigraphy, Geology of Malaysia and Southeast Asia, Petroleum Geology, Geomorphology, Geostatistics and Geological Data Analysis, Geotectonics and Structural Geology, Minerals and Rocks, Physical Oceanography, Palaeontology, Introduction to Remote Sensing, Coastal Science, Sedimentology, Seafloor Surveying and Exploration.

  • ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

STPM (SCIENCE STREAM)
Obtain at least Grade C in ONE (1) of the following STPM subjects:
• Biology
• Physics
• Chemistry
• Mathematics T

STPM (ARTS STREAM)
Obtain at least Grade C in ONE (1) of the following STPM subjects:
• Mathematics M
• Geography

MATRICULATION / FOUNDATION (SCIENCE / ENGINEERING / SOCIAL SCIENCES)
Obtain at least Grade C in ONE (1) of the following Matriculation / Foundation subjects:
• Biology
• Physics
• Chemistry
• Mathematics

DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT QUALIFICATIONS
Possess a Diploma with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00 in a field related to the programme applied for;
OR
Possess another qualification recognised as equivalent and approved by the University Senate.

MALAYSIAN UNIVERSITY ENGLISH TEST (MUET)
Obtain at least BAND 2.0 for results from Session 1, 2021 onwards, or BAND 2 for results from 2020 and earlier, subject to the validity period applicable on the date of application.
