Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has strategically initiated its plan of strengthening the university’s administration. To facilitate the planned agenda, UMT has appointed new charismatic individuals; they filled some of the important posts integral to the enforcement of the university policies.

One of the new appointees is Zukiferee Ibrahim, who, effective 1 January 2020, is  UMT Registrar. Prior to the latest appointment, he was Deputy Registrar at Vice Chancellor’s Office; he was also Head of Integrity Unit. His portfolio switchover will provide big impact to the university’s administration, more so with regard to human resource management.

In addition, UMT has also appointed a new Bursar, Azizah Hassan. She succeeded Zahara Kedri who retired on 18 December 2019. In her previous role as Deputy Bursar, she had carried out the function well; her experience and expertise made her the most suitable candidate.

The Corporate Communication Centre also underwent organizational restructuring. To fill the vacancy for its director, UMT top management appointed Syirfan Indira Mitra Surya Husin. He has vast experience in broadcasting, and used to be with several media agencies and private television stations. His strong credentials will help boost UMT’s image.

UMT Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Ir. Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman in his new year speech said that the structural changes will enable UMT to be an academic institution with strong research capabilities and complete support facilities. He also urged all to keep working hard to produce high-impact outputs that will become sources of reference.

“UMT is not seen only as a contributor of ideas, but as a source of knowledge that can provide contribution to the society,” he said.
