KUALA NERUS—UMT Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr Nor Aieni Mokhtar has announced a 30 percent discount for registered UMT alumni on facility use.

The announcement was made during her speech at the 2018 UMT Alumni Silver Jubilee Celebration event held recently.

The offer was extended to all alumni who had agreed to assist UMT with setting up the UMT Alumni Scholarship Scheme to help students in need who obtained good academic achievement, the Vice Chancellor said.

“Alumni are important assets who can help to maintain the sustainability of UMT. They are our former students who were with us at one time, receiving education here, and are now holding important positions everywhere,” the Vice Chancellor said. “UMT is serious in strengthening its network with alumni for a better future.”

A series of programmes would be organised to foster the relationship between the alumni and the alma mater as had been outlined in UMT Alumni Strategic Plan 2018-2012, the Vice  Chancellor said.

Meanwhile, UMT Alumni Centre Director Associate Professor Ts. Dr Mohamad Rosni Othman said that one of the Alumni Centre’s role was to strengthen its network with UMT alumni’s companies and invite other organisations to become alumni partners.

The strategic collaboration would take the forms of industrial training placement offers to UMT students, job offers to UMT graduates, and financial and expertise contributions to the alma mater.

Also taking place at the event were the launching of e-Alumni system and pre-launching of the Terengganu Island Funcation (TIF) programme, a joint venture with E-Magineers Sdn Bhd.

The event was attended by over 150 UMT alumni, members of UMT Board of Directors and UMT principal officers.
