KUALA NERUS, 30th September 2018 – Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) took another step forward as it endeavoured to strengthen its research capacity by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with University of East Anglia (UEA) here, today.

The agreement was viewed as an impetus that could propel the research quality and performance of both universities, as well as increasing UMT branding at the global level.

UMT Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr Nor Aieni Mokhtar said that the agreement would pave the way for many research collaborations between the two universities.

“We will be focussing on several fields, namely Chemical Sciences, Environment and Oceanography. Also to be discussed are online courses and online training that enable the sharing of knowledge without incurring large expenses,” said Professor Nor Aieni.

She added further that the collaboration would provide a medium for sharing research knowledge and create opportunities for student- and lecturer-exchange programmes as and when required.

Also present during the signing of the MOU were UEA Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Phillip Gilmartin, UMT principal officers, and delegates from University of East Anglia.
