UMT to honour 1,601 graduands, award posthumous degree to deceased student

A total of 1601 graduands in doctorate degree, master’s degree, undergraduate degree, diploma, and foundation study will be honoured during Universiti Malaysia Terengganu’s convocation ceremony to be held for two days beginning 11 December.

UMT’s Chancellor Her Royal Highness Sultanah Nur Zahirah has consented to be present at the first session of UMT’s 20th Convocation Ceremony, to be held at Sultan Mizan Hall on UMT campus.

Her Royal Highness will be presenting the university’s main awards to recipients who have been successful during their studies.

Among the awards to be presented during the ceremony are Honorary Degree, Royal Education Award, Chancellor’s Gold Medal Award, Pro-Chancellor’s Award, Chairman of University’s Board of Directors’ Award, and Vice Chancellor’s Award.

UMT will confer an Honorary Doctorate Degree (Humanity) to Dato’ Dr. Annabel Teh Gallop for her contributions in promoting the country’s heritage of literary works, arts, and culture.

In addition, UMT will also confer an Honorary Doctorate Degree (Technology) to Dato’ Rozana Saad for her excellent leadership in manning a large-scale oil and gas company at the international level.  

UMT will also confer a posthumous degree to one of its students who passed away because of blood cancer. The degree will be accepted by the student’s closest relatives.
