UMT POPULAR CHOICE AMONG STUDENTS

Kuala Nerus, 23 July – Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) today welcomed 366 students of Diploma in Fisheries and STEM Foundation for the 2023/2024 session.

 

Student registration process proceeded smoothly as planned, said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Izani Mohd Zain, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Student Affaris and Alumni.

 

As early as 7.30 in the morning students and their families were ready for the registration at the residential college, where they were welcomed by the registration committee.

 

Dr. Mohd Izani spend some time talking to the students and their parents while observing the situation at the residential college.

 

During his interview, Dr. Izani said he hoped the students will be able to adjust early to the campus environment and explore the opportunities to participate in cocurricular activities so that they will become holistic students that are not only excellent in academics but other aspects as well, which will make them more prepared for the work world.

 

“The feedback I received from students was that UMT was their first choice, and this is something the university is proud of,” he said.

 

Meanwhile, STEM student Loheedaj A/L Ajay, 18, said his decision to further his study at UMT is the right choice as it has always been his dream. The Penang-born said he had done research on the programmes offered by UMT.

 

The student who has a keen interest in science made the right choice as UMT is among the best universities offering the programme.

 

Another Penang-born, Nur Edleena binti Mohamad Syukor, 18, is grateful for having been offered Diploma of Fisheries programme at the university.

 

She could not find suitable words to describe her excitement while registering at UMT accompanied by her family. The university’s location by the beach made her eager to start studying here.

 

“Insyaallah I intend to be excellent while at UMT. The university is among the best in Malaysia, with complete facilities and lecturers who are renowned at the national and international levels,” she said.

 

Of the total that registered today, 294 students are from STEM Foundation and 72 Diploma of Fisheries.
