Kuala Nerus- The Inter-school Sports Fiesta (ISSF) 2019, organised by Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), came to its close Saturday after holding eight sporting events and handing over ten trophies to the winners.

The three-day event was officially closed by UMT Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Professor Ts. Dr Che Mohdd Ruzaidi Ghazali. The contests took place at the Tengku Muhammad Ismail Sports Complex from 18-20 April.

Professor Che Mohd Ruzaidi said that the inter-school sports have been organised as annual events at UMT, and this year the event was renamed Inter-school Sports Fiesta (ISSF).

The main objective of the tournament was to provide an avenue for UMT staff to participate in healthy sport activities while at the same foster the camaraderie among them, be they academic or non-academic staff, Professor Ruzaidi said.  

The sports events taking place during the annual sports competition were badminton, women’s futsal, rugby, soccer, basketball, volleyball, netball and track-and-field.  

The School of Maritime Business and Management was crowned the overall champion and took home the championship trophy.
