Kuala Nerus, 09 December 2020—Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) moved up 65 spots in 2020 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings (UIGM) to sit at 338 among 912 participating universities.

UMT Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr Nor Aieni Mokhtar said that this proud achievement has marked another historal event for UMT.

“Congratulations and thank you to all staff and students on their hard work, commitment, and support in realizing the aspiration and success of UMT in every area especially in making UMT as a sustainable and environmentally friendly campus,” she said.

In last year’s ranking, UMT sat at 403 among 780 particpating universities.

UIGM is a platform for rating campus sustainable performance that is conducted online. This year, a total of 912 universities from 84 countries participated, an increase of 132 from last year.

Campus sustainable performance is measured using six indicators: Landscape and Infrastructure; Enegry and Climate Change; Waste, Water, and Transport Management; and Education and Research (Sutainability).
