Kuala Nerus – Her Royal Highness Sultanah Nur Zahirah in her capacity as Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has consented to appoint Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Zuki Ali, Chief Secretary to the Government, as UMT Pro-Chancellor for the duration of three years effective 1 March 2024 until 28 February 2027. At present, Tan Sri Samsudin Osman is also UMT Pro-Chancellor.

The Terengganu native holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Master of Business Management (Finances) degree from Nanyang University of Technology, Singapore.

His wide experience in the field of management and administration has led to him receiving many awards. In recognition of this contributions during his service, he was appointed Chief Secretary to the Government on 31 December 2019.

During his service, he had been appointed Senior Private Secretary to His Royal Highness the 13^th Yang Dipertuan Agong from 2006 until 2011, then Director General of Legistative Affairs Division, Prime Minister’s Office, from 2015 until 2016. He had also been appointed Secretary to Sarawak Federation in 2016 and Senior Deputy Secretary to the Government in 2019.

UMT believes that with the experience and leadership he possesses, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Zuki Ali will help elevate the image of UMT as a marine-focused higher learning institution that is respected nationally and globally.
