Kuala Nerus – Career, Entrepreneurship and Skills Festival 2023 or CESF’23 offered more than 400 employment opportunities and industrial training placement to future graduates of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT).

Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Professor Dr Mohd Izani Mohd Zain said the three-day career carnival starting 10 December allowed students to explore various job and advanced training opportunities.

“At the same time, they were able to survey the industrial training opportunities offered by participating companies.

“Our commitment is to develop a sustainable entrepreneurship and graduate employability ecosystem in an effort to increase the rate of graduate employability in line with the UMT Strategic Plan (PSUMT 2023 – 2027). We aim to develop competitive students that can become the next generation’s leaders.”

He said the initiative is among the programmes listed under the Kanvas Siswa Madani @ UMT initiative that is managed by the Office of Student Affairs and Alumni (HEPA), UMT. The aim is to equip graduates with various skills as part of the preparation before venturing into the work world. This is in line with the main agenda of the Ministry of Higher Education, which is to increase the percentage of graduate employability through the KPT Graduate Employability Strategic Plan and to increase the number of students and graduates who become entrepreneurs through the IPT Entrepreneurship Action Plan.

“In addition, it can also develop a good personality by emphasizing the social ethics programme especially when they are at their industrial training sites or at work.

He said the carnival also organized sharing sessions between the industries and students about various career development topics, namely Career Fair & Walk-in Interviews, Pitch4 Career, Career Talk by THRDC, SOCSO, CelcomeDigi, Entrepreneurship Business 101, and Monitization with TikTok.
