UMT partners with KETENGAH, will offer professionally certified programmes

Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), well-recognized in the field of marine science and aquatic resources, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Central Terengganu Development Authority (KETENGAH), a forward-looking decision both parties believe will make them better and give them a competitive edge.

During the ceremony that was held virtually, UMT Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mazlan Abd Ghaffar signed the document on behalf of UMT, while KETENGAH General Manager Tengku Ahmad Nadzri Tengku Musa did so on behalf of the organization.

According to Professor Mazlan, the partnership is expected to produce impactful programmes that can be commercialised.

“The partnership will enable us to offer professionally certified commercial scuba diving programmes,” he said. “Also, we will be collaborating on academic programme, a diploma in tourism, where UMT will assist in training nature guides so they become competent and certified.”

Professor Mazlan added that both parties plan to collaborate on research projects that will involve not only them but also other stakeholders in the future.

He also welcomed KETENGAH staff to further their studies at UMT to fulfil their lifelong learning aspiration.

Also present to witness the signing were KETENGAH Chairman Senator Datuk Razali Idris and UMT’s senior officers.
