KUALA NERUS—UMT will play a bigger role in helping to elevate the status of the academic in the country, said Prof. Ir. Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman, Acting Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu.

“For 2020, we plan to not just help, but to give more than that. We are not followers. We are trendsetters,” he said during the delivery of 2020 New Year Mandate today at UMT Sultan Mizan Hall. 

Prof Noor Azuan also urged all the staff from all levels to exercise more prudent management, be more responsible, and maintain the integrity.

“Management that always keeps abreast of changes and is every ready to change. Management that is not biased but fair. Management that has aims and attempts to achieve them,” he said.

Prof Noor Azuan also stressed that the academic targets for 2020 will include research, teaching, and services.

“Change immediately. This is a new era. For that, I would like to state that 2020 yearly performance assessment for academics will only emphasize research, teaching, and services. No time to waste, make haste,” he said.

He hoped that UMT will have more success in this new year and beyond. He urged all staff to give their commitment to ensure continuing development and achievement in future. 

The event was attended by more than 1,000 staff including lecturers, officers, and support personnel.

At the same event, Prof Ir. Dr Azuan received on behalf of UMT the certifications for MS ISO, QMS, and ISMS from SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd, presented by the Senior Manager of SIRIM Certification Management Department Mohd Hamim Iman Mustain.
