TWIN SISTERS AMONG 309 CONFERRED FIRST-CLASS DEGREES

It was a historic day for a pair of twin sisters when both were conferred degrees during the 18^th Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) that began on 6 December and will last for eight days.

The twins Nur Fatma Husna Majid and Nur Fatma Hasni Majid, who were from the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Social Development, said that they were both thrilled to be graduating at the same time after four years of studying.

According to Husna, furthering their studies at UMT was the best decision they had made.

“Since we were small, we had never been apart. However, after our excellent results in PMR, I went to a boarding school in Kelantan while my twin sister went to a boarding school in Terengganu,” she said.

Husna said there were many challenges they had to go through while being apart from each other.

“Seeing the difficulties faced by our parents to manage us at two different places, we agreed to continue our schooling until Form 6 after finishing our SPM examination.

“We really wanted to make it easy for our parents while also saving some cost by staying with them,” said Husna, who was also a recipient of a scholarship from a renown banking agency.

“We chose UMT because one of the programmes it offers met our interest and both of us were accepted into the same university.

The twin sisters attended different sessions, but both graduated with first class honours.

“I am grateful and happy that we obtained first class honours, and this achievement is a gift to our parents for their sacrifices.

The twin sisters are aiming for more achievements at higher level.

“We have registered as postgraduate students at UMT and will be furthering our study at master’s level. We will do our best to achieve excellence for us, for our family, and for the whole society,” she said.

A total of 2878 graduands were conferred degrees and diplomas during the convocation, which was held in compliance to the new norms at UMT’s Sultan Mizan Hall.
