The Student Councelling Centre of the Student Affairs and Alumni Office, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, in collaboration with the Terengganu Contigent Police Headquarters (IPK), has successfully organized a seminar of sexual harrassment to create further awareness among the community regarding the issue.

The seminar focused on the well-being aspect in developing individuals to produce madani society, in line with the concept of Malaysia Madani introduced by Prime Minster Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

UMT Vice Chancellor Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazlan Abd Ghaffar in his officiating speech said the seminar is a platform to create awareness among UMT students in particular and society in general of the sexual harassment crime and people’s rights in order to create a harmonious atmosphere.

“I believe our small effort today will lead to a bigger result one day, where there will be an environment free from sexual harassment.”

Dr. Mazlan said UMT takes the issue seriously and is developing a specific module for students.

“The module will help increase the mental health of students at UMT.

He said the module will focus on sexual harassment issues in addition to students’ awareness of life issues that can influence self-resilience and increase self-esteem in producing students who are resilient and physically, mentally, and emotionally well.
