KUALA NERUS—Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has organised Career Entrepreneurship and Skills Festival 2019 (CESF’19) with the objective of producing more graduates who are either employed or competitive entrepreneurs making their own income, which is in line with the aspiration of Malaysia’s Ministry of Education. CESF’19 was held for four days beginning 25 April.

Industry partners looking for candidates to fill the vacancies took the opportunity to conduct walk-in interviews during the festival.

A total of 25 industries took part in the festival and occupied the career booths. As for the entrepreneurship section, a total of 80 sales lots were offered, which were occupied by students and active sellers from around Terengganu.

Among the activities held were Industrial Talk, Career Forum, Real Business Challenge competition, Employment Opportunities for the Disabled, and national-level MyAgrosis Cup.

UMT Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Professor Ts. Dr Che Mohd Ruzaidi Ghazali in his speech said that CESF’19 was organised to increase the employability of university graduates and to foster better relationship between the university and the industries.

“In addition, we hope that this programme will help to produce graduates who are holistic, entrepreneurial and well-rounded and subsequently reduce the rate of unemployment among graduates,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development Datuk Wira Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli in his opening speech stressed that various entrepreneur schemes are available to help graduates venture into the field.

“All graduates should take the opportunity to obtain information on business financing offered by SME banks and other institutions,” he said.

CESF’19 managed to attract more than 5000 visitors during the four days.
