The Aidulfitri celebration at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) this year was different from the celebrations for the previous years, with the Malaysia Madani concept introduced by the 10^th Prime Minister as the theme.

Although with reduced budget, the celebration was still lively with the venue decorated based on “Raya at the Village” theme. The theme that was inspired by the Reuse, Reduce, Recycle concept was adopted to help reduce the impact of environmental pollution.  

UMT Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International) Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamri Ibrahim said the aidilfitri celebration this year focused on the concept of harmony in support of the Malaysia Madani theme founded by the Prime Minister.

“In the spirit of Malaysia Madani concept, we also distributed raya money to more than 70 orphans from several schools around UMT and from the Orphan and Underprivileged Children Welfare Organization.

“Alhamdulillah, the UMT community has shown the commitment to make the 2024 Aidilfitri celebration a success. Although with the budget reduced compared to the previous years, the event was still lively with participation by staff from different races and religions.

The event was made even merrier when several activities were also organized, such as Raya poster competition, booth decoration competition, and best costumes among others.
