UMT signs MOU with two Indonesian universities

Kuala Nerus – Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has entered into a collaboration with two Indonesian universities, Universities Karimun and Universitas Jambi, as part of the effort to strengthen its relationship with institutions in the neighbouring country.

The document signing ceremony was held today at UMT campus, in the presence of the delegations from the two universities.

UMT was represented by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazlan Abd Ghaffar. Universitas Karimun was represented by Said Nuwrun, acting on behalf of the Rector, while Prof. Dr. Junaidi, Dean of Faculty of Economic and Business, signed the document on behalf of Universitas Jambi.

According to Dr. Mazlan, the collaboration represents a new chapter in the university’s effort to further strengthen its academic excellence by way of research collaborations, mobility programmes, joint conferences, training collaborations, sharing of expertise and implementation of community programmes.

“With the agreement officially in place, it is hoped the university will be recognized by more international bodies in the fields of academic and research.

“We also hope that the effort will successfully lead to high-impact publications and more collaborations with other universities in the world.

He said UMT is always exploring the possibilities of establishing partnerships with universities not in the region but around the world, in line with its internationalization aspiration.

Also present were Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamri Ibrahim, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) Prof. ChM. Dr. Marinah Mohd Ariffin, Director of Institute of Tropical Biodiversity and Sustainable Development Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amirrudin Ahmad, and UMT officers.
