UMT, IPB AIM TO IMPROVE FISHERIES AND AGRICULTURE FIELDS THROUGH MOU

KUALA NERUS—Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) have agreed to collaborate to improve the fisheries and agriculture fields in Malaysia and Indonesia for increased reputability.

During the signing ceremony, UMT was represented by Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr Nor Aieni Mokhtar, while IPB by its Rector Professor Dr Arif Satria.

“UMT has established a close relationship with Institut Pertanian Bogor in Indonesia or also known as IPB University through academic and staff development activities. IPB is a university with expertise in agriculture, marine science, and fisheries, such as Fisheries Technology and Fisheries Management,” said Professor Nor Aieni in her speech during the event at UMT.

According to Professor Nor Aieni, the MoU will serve as a platform for the sharing of expertise and current issues faced by both universities.

“This Memorandum of Understanding is signed with the aim to strengthen the academic and research collaborations in various fields between UMT and IPB as well as make it as a platform for exchanging ideas and resources for improving the reputability of both universities,” Professor Nor Aieni said.

“Among the activities in discussion are industrial training for UMT and IPB undergraduates, attachment programmes for lecturers and support staff of both universities, collaborations on research, publications and seminar hosting, lecturer and staff exchange programmes, and development programmes for local communities’ benefits,” Professor Nor Aieni said.   

She added that various programmes and activities will be created with active involvements from students and staff of UMT and IPB and joint research between will be conducted.
