More than 100 UMT staff recognized for years of service

A total of 113 staff of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) from all levels have been recognized for their years of service during an appreciation ceremony called Majlis Penghargaan Setia Bakti dan Pesara UMT 2022.
The event with the theme “Setia Berbakti, UMT Teguh Bersama,” was specially held to honour the contributions made by the staff towards propelling the university to greater heights.
UMT Vice Chancellor Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazlan Abd Ghaffar expressed his delight and excitement that he could meet UMT staff already retired and soon to be retired.
“Thank you for the contributions and the efforts shown all this while. I truly appreciate each thing that you have done, and you are all excellent employees,” Prof. Mazlan said.
“I believe you all have given your best during your service at UMT, so much so that this young university has managed to be at its best,” added Prof. Mazlan in his speech during the ceremony.
He said UMT had prepared four categories of awards for 2022.
“The Bronze category is for 10 years of service, Silver 20, Gold 30, and Platinum 40.”
He added that the awards are presented as a form of appreciation and also as an initiative to motivate the staff to continue being excellent while working at UMT.
Prof. Mazlan also stressed on the aspect of collegiality at work.
“I pray to Allah S.W.T that all of us at UMT will remain united and work as a team to overcome all the challenges so as to further enhance UMT’s excellence,” he said.
“Maintain your loyalty and keep giving your best so that UMT will remain relevant in the future.”
UMT began as a fisheries centre and has gone through a series of upgrading until it now has become a renowned university in the East Coast, and the university has become a centre of reference for marine and environmental matters.
Among UMT’s achievements and recognitions are inclusion into the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject, QS World University Rankings, QS University Rankings (Asia), UI GreenMetric, MyMoheS, Malaysia Research Assessment (MyRA), and SETARA.
