UMT, PETRONAS COLLABORATE TO IMPROVE EMPLOYABILITY OF EAST COAST UNIVERSITY GRADUATES

Kuala Terengganu – Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and Petrolium Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) have co-organised the PETRONAS BeDIGITAL Bootcamp 2023 Eastern Zone programme in the spirit of fostering university-industry partnerships.

A total of 50 programme participants will be offered employment with PETRONAS when they graduate from their university.

PETRONAS BeDIGITAL Bootcamp is a programme implemented by PERSONAS in collaboration with public universities in Malaysia and focuses on the development of the digital and entrepreneurship fields. The programme is handled by Petronas Digital Sdn. Bhd with partners such as Microsoft, Seed.Lab, and Petrosains and is line with the intention of the Minsitry of Higher Education to strengthen the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

The 14-day programme held for the first time in the Eastern Zone took place at UMT and was attended by 100 participants from five public universities in the east coast, namely UMT, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

The programme is line with the Ministry of Higher Education’s agenda of managing changes and technological explosion in an effort to empower Malaysian graduates. Through various modules, participants were trained to be more competitive in the job market and able to land employment.

The closing ceremony was held on 13 September. Present during the event were Datuk Bacho Pilong, Senior Vice President, PETRONAS Project and Technology Implementation, and principal officers from the universities involved.
