A pair of identical twins were thrilled when they could register as students at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) for the 2023 academic session.

Ling An, 20, and his twin, Ling Qin, are among the 2,200 new students that will continue their studies at the degree level.

Ling An, who is taking the accounting degree, said UMT is no stranger to him and believed that the campus is a suitable place for furthering his study.

“Today is not the first time I set food at UMT. My twin brother obtained his Diploma in Fisheries here and today he registered as a degree student for the Bachelor of Aquaculture Science (with Honours). We came here to complete the registration without our family accompanying us.

He added the peaceful environment of the campus and its location near the shore led him and his twin brother to choose UMT as their first choice.

“We had planned much earlier to study at UMT, and the strategy we used when filling out the UPU form worked.

“Thank you UMT for accepting us as students here, and we will make full use of this opportunity. We intend to wear Malay traditional costume at our graduation and will further our studies if given the opportunity,” he said.

Meanwhile, UMT Vice Chancellor Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazlan Abd Ghaffar congratulated the new students on being offered a place at UMT.

“Praise to God everything went well, and we received a total of 2,200 new students. Congratulations to them all.

“A job well done to all the staff involved during the registration who tried their best to ensure the process proceeded smoothly.

“We welcome the new students to UMT. Let’s be part of UMT’s excellent community and aim for success for a bright future,” he said.
