KUALA NERUS – UMT Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr Nor Aieni Mokhtar has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Committee of Public University Vice Chancellors/Rectors (JKNC/R) and will hold the post for two years until 2020.

The ceremony to present the letter of appointment was held during a Vice Chancellor/Rector meeting at the Ministry of Education of Malaysia.

The committee serves as a platform for university top management to discuss the future directions of higher education in Malaysia.

In addition, the committee is tasked with implementing various government resolutions, policies and strategies to ensure Malaysia’s successful transition towards a developed nation, as well as improving the quality of Malaysian universities.

The appointment of Professor Nor Aieni was made to fill the post vacated by Professor Dato’ Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim, whose term as Chairman of the committee had ended.
