Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has shown once again that it is committed in its effort to produce holistic graduates by staging a student theatre.

The event, organised by UMT Cultural and Arts Centre and aimed at finding hidden talents among the students, provided an opportunity to more than 40 students to take part in.

Although the students are from science programmes, the trainings they received from UMT Cultural Artist Mohamed Azman Hassan@Jusoh helped them to give a performance that wowed more than 1500 people in the audience who came to see the show full of implied messages.

Mohamed Azman said that the Cultural and Arts Centre managed to discover talented students that would take over one day, and that the centre would keep on supporting any activities intended to promote arts and cultures.

“Malaysia has its own unique cultures and traditions and I am sure that the sponsoring of the theatre this time can inculcate student interests in the arts and cultures so that these would live on and can be passed to the next generation,” he said.

“It is hoped that this event provides value added to the students taking part, and that other students will consider joining in to get similar benefits,” Mohamed Azman said.

The students taking part in the theatre are members of several student societies including Persadatari, Gemersik Club, and Seni Silat .

Also in the audience was UMT Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr Nor Aieni Mokhtar, who came to show support for activities geared towards student development
