UMT campus election held online to prevent spread of Covid-19

Kuala Nerus –  Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) campus election process that was conducted online due to the threat of the new variant Omicron proceeded smoothly.

Roughly 55.52% of the students, equivalent to 5,205 from the total 9,375, cast their votes online at the portal MyUndi to elect the new lineup of student representatives for the 2021/2022 session.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hafiz Zakariya, chairman of the MPP 2021/2022 main committee, said that the election process began at 9 am until 4 pm, and it involved 33 candidates, with 15 contesting at the General level and 18 faculty level.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the winners that have managed to win the hearts of the student voters,” said Dr. Hafiz who is also UMT Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumni.

“I hope that the lineup will be able to carry out the responsibilities well and make changes that will benefit the students.”

Among the winning candidates who will become the representatives are Nur Shazleen Esham (Faculty of Business, Economics, and Social Development), Umar Mohd Yusof (Faculty of Business, Economics, and Social Development), Nurin Faqihah Mahadi (Faculty of Maritime Studies), Muhammad Nur Aiman Aliff Ab Razak (Faculty of Maritime Studies), Nurdini Ahmad (Faculty of Fisheries and Food Science), Ahmad Rusyaidi Che Ayob (Faculty of Fisheries and Food Science), Nur Aisyah Farhanah Zamri (Faculty of Science and Marine Environment), Muhammad Syafiq Rafa’ie Mohd Noh (Faculty of Science and Marine Environment), Ameerul Iskandar Abdullah (Faculty of Ocean Engineering Technology and Informatics), Afdalina Ba Barahim (Faculty of Ocean Engineering Technology and Informatics), Brendon Vun Man Fook (Faculty of Science and Marine Environment), Muhammad Al-Nurfirdaus Nazri (Faculty of Business, Economics, and Social Development), Fatin Nuraqilah Ahmad Zairil (Faculty of Science and Marine Environment), Nur Amirah Agus (Faculty of Science and Marine Environment), Nur Syamimi Mohd Rudin (Faculty of Maritime Studies).
