Kuala Terengganu – Five graduates from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) who completed their bachelor’s degree programme with excellent results received special awards presented by the Menteri Besar of Terengganu Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

The outstanding graduates were Nur Atiha Muhammad (Accounting), Amynina Nabila Mohd Azhar (Electronic Physics and Instrumentation), Mas Yuhalissa Mat Yaziz (Fisheries), Nadiah Ramli (Environmental Technology) and Muhammad Syafiq Mohd Rizani (Nautical Sciences and Maritime Transport).

The programme that was named Terengganu Scholar Award 2018 was one of the initiatives by the Terengganu government to improve the excellence of Terengganu natives studying at institutions of higher learning and to acknowledge those with outstanding achievement at undergraduate level who obtained First Class Honours with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.75 or 80% mark for the overall assessment irrespective of programme of study.

Award recipients took home a certificate and RM4000 cheque for professional fields and RM2000 cheque for nonprofessional fields.

Meanwhile, UMT Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr Nor Aieni Mokhtar who was also present at the event said that she was proud of the UMT graduates’ achievements.

“Syabas dan tahniah kepada mahasiswa-mahasiswa yang menerima anugerah ini. Semoga kecemerlangan yang boleh dibanggakan ini menjadi sumber inspirasi dan ransangan kepada pelajar-pelajar lain dalam menempa kecemerlangan”. Katanya.

“Congratulations to the graduates who received the awards. I hope that this outstanding achievement will become a source of inspiration and motivation for the others to excel as well,” she said.
