MARANG—The community of Bukit Kor in Marang was served local dishes prepared by UMT staff and local farmers who rear all types of vegetables and produce stingless bee honey in the UMT-owned area.

PPSTM Acting Dean Associate Professor Dr Shamsul Bahri Abd Razak said that the objective of the programme was to introduce the PPSTM Agrotechnology Complex to the state government, external agencies and relevant bodies, in addition to establishing closer relationships with the state government and agriculture agencies.

“PPSTM Agrotechnology Complex was completed and handed over to the School of Food Science and Technology November last year. This complex will allow for teaching and learning activities for the undergraduate students to take place conveniently especially practical classes. In addition, postgraduate students can also conduct research activities here,” Dr Shamsul Bahri said.  

“We have also placed 7 staff including agriculture officers and security guards o facilitate administrative matters and coordinate learning activities at Bukit Kor,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Terengganu Agriculture, Agro-based Industry and Rural Development Exco Dr Azman Ibrahim in his speech also encouraged the university to carry out agricultural activities at Bukit Kor, with involvement from the local residents, to stimulate the local economy.
