KUALA NERUS, 17 Januari 2019  – Malaysia’s Minister of Education Dr Maszlee Malik paid Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) a visit today after arriving earlier in Terengganu on an official work trip.

On his first visit following his appointment as one of the cabinet ministers in the new government’s administration, Dr Maszlee was welcomed by UMT Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr Nor Aieni Mokhtar.

During the brief meeting, Professor Nor Aieni gave a short presentation on the research station at Bidong Island and the turtle conservation station at Chagar Hutang, Redang Island, which has become the trade mark of UMT.

Also present were UMT principal officers, senior officers, and staff.

Dr Maszlee Malik delivered his 2019 Minister of Education’s Mandate titled Education For All in Universiti Putra Malaysia several days earlier on 14 January.

In addition to discussing challenges in education moving towards Vision 2020, Dr Maszlee Malik also made announcements regarding several important matters.

“To produce a society that is democratic, moral, ethical and caring, education is the core. Education is the true path towards Vision 2020,” he said.

“Education is our responsibility. We don’t want education to be something so unfamiliar in our society,” he said further.

“We want the best education for our children. We want them to have a passion for knowledge, grow to be individuals who always seek to learn, and understand that education is not about the end results, but about continuously chasing after it,” he added.
